About The Role

Are you a caring and responsible individual? Are you approachable, with the ability to create a safe and nurturing environment for young people? Do you thrive in a team environment? If this sounds like you, we’d love you to join our dedicated team of Houseparents, working on our UK based residential young learner courses this summer. We are seeking enthusiastic individuals to provide pastoral care for young learners aged 7-17.

As a Houseparent, you will:

  • Supervise students, ensuring their safety and well-being onsite.
  • Lead daily house meetings, encouraging open communication with students and addressing any issues.
  • Conduct regular house checks to maintain and safe and comfortable living environment.
  • Supervise mealtimes, ensuring positive dining experiences and ensuring dietary needs and preferences are catered for.
  • Administer the distribution of pocket money and maintaining accurate records.
  • Create and maintain a positive atmosphere with the house, encouraging respectful behaviour.
  • Assist with activities and study tours.
  • Contribute to a positive and collaborative working environment.

About You

We are looking for candidates who are:

Responsible You consistently prioritise the safety and well-being of our young learners and keep safeguarding at the heart of everything you do.

Empathetic You demonstrate a genuine understanding of the feelings and perspectives of young people.

Approachable: You are friendly and easy to approach and create an atmosphere where students feel able to share concerns or issues.

Culturally sensitive You demonstrate an understanding of cultural differences and ensure an inclusive and respectful environment.

Enthusiastic You are passionate about working with young people and bring enthusiasm and energy to teamwork.

We are especially interested in hearing from candidates with expertise in any of the following areas:

  • Pastoral or welfare experience
  • Experience of working in a residential environment
  • Counselling experience
  • Safeguarding experience

If you don’t have experience in the above, we are still keen to hear from you. If you can engage young people and create a positive and supportive residential environment, you will make a great Houseparent!
