About The Role

Are you experienced in academic management and passionate about ensuring student success? Do you possess the leadership skills necessary to oversee the academic provision of our Young Learner courses? Can you inspire, motivate, support and develop a team of talented EFL Teachers? If this sounds like you, we’d love you to join our dedicated academic management team, working on our UK based residential young learner courses this Winter.

As a Director of Studies, you will:

  • Manage the teaching team, ensuring a consistently high standard of instruction and support.
  • Conduct lesson observations and provide constructive feedback to teachers.
  • Provide feedback to the Centre Manager and Young Learner department on pedagogic aspects of the course and staff reports.
  • Organise and contribute to professional development INSET sessions for academic staff to foster continuous growth and improvement.
  • Oversee student placement and assessment, ensuring appropriate academic support and progression.
  • Provide academic support and guidance to both teachers and students, ensuring their needs are met effectively.
  • Manage the setup, utilisation and return of academic resources.
  • Participate in all aspects of the academic programme, including participation in study tours and teaching as required.
  • Support with pastoral duties and the social programme as required.
  • Be on call and respond to emergencies as they arise, demonstrating quick thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Contribute to a positive and collaborative working environment.

About You

We are looking for candidates who are:

Leaders - You demonstrate strong leadership skills and an understanding of how to support and develop an academic teaching team.

Knowledgeable - You possess a strong understanding of pedagogical principles and best practice in learning and teaching and of project-based or task-based learning.

Approachable - You are friendly and easy to approach and create an atmosphere where staff and  students feel able to share concerns or issues.

Organised - You can manage multiple tasks and deadlines with precision and ensure attention to detail in all aspects of your work.

Culturally sensitive - You demonstrate an understanding of cultural differences and ensure an inclusive and respectful environment.

Responsible - You consistently prioritise the safety and well-being of our young learners and keep safeguarding at the heart of everything you do.

Directors of Studies must be qualified as follows:

  • Delta/Trinity DipTESOL Certificate
  • Degree or equivalent

We are especially interested in hearing from candidates with experience in the following areas:

  • Project-based/task-based teaching.
  • Experience working in a residential environment.
  • Management of a large academic team with experience ranging from newly qualified to very experienced.
