If this sounds like you, we’d love you to join our Bell London team as a summer Residential Houseparent, working in our central London residential accommodation located next to Tower Bridge.
As a Residential Houseparent, you’ll live on site at our central London self-catering student residence between 22nd June and 16th August. You will be responsible for the care, supervision and well-being of students, particularly those under 18, ensuring students feel comfortable and happy while they embark on the summer course. You’ll also lead small groups of students on Language in Action cultural activities e.g. Visiting various museums, tourist sights, guided walks in London.
Duties will include:
- Ensuring the smooth operation of student arrivals and departures, in liaison with the Student Services Coordinator
- Inducting students to the residence, including fire procedures
- Ensuring rules are adhered to and student discipline is maintained
- Ensuring close coordination with the residence provider’s own staff and group leaders
- Monitoring and remedy the cleanliness, tidiness, and appearance of the areas that Bell is using
- Ensuring welfare, safety and security of students
- Bringing new students to the school on their first day of school
- Ensuring students under 18 follow Under 18s guidelines and Safeguarding procedures, including adhering to a 23:00 curfew
- Dealing with students’ queries and provide information
- Attending meetings with Bell London staff, and 3rd parties at Bell London, onsite, or other locations
- Being on call onsite and available for emergency contact in case of incident
- Reporting incidents or concerns immediately
- Leading small groups of students on Language in Action cultural activities, supervise them ensuring their safety and welfare at all times whilst on the activity
- Assisting in the event of any fire or other emergency evacuation
- Adhering to all statutory regulations and to Bell policies and procedures
- Undertaking any other reasonable duties as required
Safeguarding
- A DBS/Police Check will be requested in the event of a successful application.
- We do not accept DBS Checks undertaken by other organisations (unless you are on the update service).
- All gaps in CVs must be explained satisfactorily.
- Proof of identity and qualifications will be required.
- All references will be followed up and reference requests will ask specifically whether there is any reason you should not be engaged in situations where you have responsibility for, or substantial access to, persons under 18.
- Appropriate suitability checks will be required prior to confirmation of appointment.
